People and Culture Generalist

What You Will Do
Reporting to the
Acting Director, People & Culture
, the
People & Culture Generalist
will be an integral part of tactical HR services offered to BioMedica Diagnostics, Crown Fibre Tube, Minas Energy, Morse Machining, and Timberland Holdings, as well as support for other special projects as required.
- Collaborate with leaders and employees to provide support through all aspects of the employee life cycle, communicating and facilitating People & Culture programs and policies to foster an environment of trust, engagement, psychological safety, and productivity
- Support hiring managers with their recruitment process to ensure the right people are in the right roles at the right time
- Provide guidance to leaders on a wide variety of people-related subjects, including employee relations, employment standards legislation, and performance management, consistently employing best practices
- Maintain accurate, well-organized documentation in electronic employee files, ensuring compliance with all legal and company requirements
- Gather, record, analyze, and act on HR metrics according to established reporting schedules
- Collaborate with Total Rewards Team on daily employee administration and case management tasks
- Complete applications for funding initiatives and fulfill all program requirements
What You Will Bring
- Experience working as a People & Culture/HR Generalist demonstrating a very high degree of confidentiality, discretion, and diplomacy
- An educational background in HR, business, adult education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Understanding of general human resources policies and processes and strong applied knowledge of NS Employment Standards
- Proven experience with recruitment practices and a willingness to innovate
- Experience working with HR Information Systems (HRIS). Familiarity with Payworks would be an asset
- Demonstrated skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Copilot)
- Curiosity, critical thinking, problem-solving, positivity, and practicality
- Experience leading change while demonstrating initiative, ideas, and innovation
- A high level of intrinsic motivation and accountability
- The ability to collaborate with a wide variety of people and shift gears with ease
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
- A strong understanding of business and the diverse perspectives found within workplaces
- Exceptional communication skills for both internal and external collaboration
- A valid Nova Scotia Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle
