About the Opportunity

We are a well-established solicitors' firm in downtown Nanaimo seeking a motivated junior associate lawyer to join our practice. This is a rare opportunity for a young lawyer to step into an established firm with a strong existing client base and a long-standing reputation for practical, client-focused legal services.

The ideal candidate is looking for a small-firm environment where they can work independently, take ownership of their files, and build their own practice with the support of experienced counsel. We are the opposite of a big firm—collegial, down-to-earth, and collaborative. We value professionalism, independence, and work-life balance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a wide range of client files independently
  • Provide practical, solution-oriented advice to local business and individual clients
  • Build and grow your own practice within an established client network
  • Participate in the continued growth and development of the firm

Qualifications

  • 2-to-3-year call with experience primarily in corporate/commercial work, including: incorporations, corporate record maintenance, reorganizations and restructuring, buying and selling businesses and general commercial contracts
  • Experience in real estate, and/or wills and estates is an asset
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated, personable, and able to manage files with minimal supervision
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and an interest in long-term practice growth
