We are seeking an intelligent and confident family lawyer to join our team. The successful candidate will have 5+ years experience in family law litigation and a dedication to help clients resolve their family law disputes.
The ideal candidate:
- is a member of good standing with law society of British Columbia with 2 - 5 years experience in family law litigation;
- has a client centered approach, with excellent communication skills, both written and oral;
- has a strong analytical and drafting skills; and
- is able to work independently and within a team in order to move matters forward efficiently and effectively while managing deadlines.
We offer competitive salary commensurate with experience and performance.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis to support case preparation and legal analysis
- Draft, review, and revise legal documents including contracts, pleadings, and memoranda
- Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients or the organization
- Advise clients on legal rights, obligations, and potential risks associated with various transactions or disputes
- Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, or negotiations when necessary
- Stay updated on current laws, regulations, and industry trends affecting the practice areas
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop strategies that align with legal standards and organizational goals
- Maintain accurate records of case files, correspondence, and legal documentation
Skills
- Proficiency in legal research platforms such as LexisNexis
- Excellent negotiation skills to achieve favorable outcomes for clients or the organization
- Strong research capabilities to analyze complex legal issues efficiently
- Exceptional writing skills for drafting clear, concise, and persuasive legal documents
- Expertise in legal drafting across various document types including contracts, briefs, and pleadings
- Ability to interpret laws and regulations accurately and apply them effectively in practical scenarios
- Effective communication skills to articulate complex legal concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple cases simultaneously
