The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator:

  • Performs DNA, RNA and protein isolation from cultured human cells/ tissues and analysis by sequencing, PCR or Western blot as appropriate
  • Assisting with CRISPR-based experiments to help researchers identify key genes and pathways affected by mutation in cancer cell models
  • Assists in collaborations with laboratories at the Columbia medical school and elsewhere
  • Assists in maintaining stocks of laboratory necessities
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology/Biochemistry or related field and one (1) year of experience in a research environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ yrs of lab experience including cell culture and protein/RNA analysis beyond college preferred
