Job Summary
The City's 30-year Solid Waste Master Plan was approved in June 2024 and includes 50 different actions to work towards the goals of achieving a more environmentally, financially and socially sustainable waste management system. The Waste Plan was built with input from stakeholder groups and the public throughout each stage of the plan's development and the actions in the plan span the collection and management of waste from curbside-residential and multi-residential homes, parks and other public spaces, City facilities and operations and existing partner programs. Actions include waste reduction, reuse and diversion initiatives, projects to increase energy and material recovery from the waste stream, operational improvements and strategies to impact behavior change in the community.

This position is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of engagement strategies, plans and tactics that support the roll out of several Waste Plan actions. Engagement continues to be key to ensuring success of these projects and to obtain the buy-in and support from across the community. This position will also work to ensure a consolidated approach to engagement that aligns across projects and takes advantage of overlap and resource efficiencies.

The position will be the lead in all public engagement activities and events on behalf of the Long-term Planning team and work with several project managers to plan and implement specific engagement strategies for multiple projects. In addition, the position will develop collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; create working groups/committees where relevant; work with contractors and consultants; lead engagement tactics such as surveys, focus groups and dialogue sessions with residents and stakeholders; conduct presentations to internal and external stakeholders; manage content for the City's engagement platform; conduct research and data analysis on gathered feedback and develop reports, such as engagement What We Learned reports.

Education And Experience
Completion of 4 year university degree in Arts, Public Administration, Public Relations, Business Administration, Social Sciences or related field

Minimum of 5 years of experience in service organizations with a range of related experience in stakeholder engagement, partnership development, public policy, communications and promotions planning
