The Police Support Services Department at the RCMP Detachment requires a temporary full-time Crisis Intervention Worker for approximately two (2) years. You will provide immediate crisis intervention assistance to victims, their families, and/or witnesses of trauma and/or crime. This includes cases such as sudden death, suicide, family dispute, domestic assault, and assisting with next-of-kin notifications. Crisis intervention assistance may be provided at the scene of an incident where violence, serious injury or death may have occurred immediately prior to your arrival. You will also accept referrals from police officers and community agencies and provide support to those individuals and families, recommend remedial action and refer them to other agencies or services as appropriate.
You have a university degree in Criminology, Social Work or Psychology as well as training and experience in crisis intervention and victim support services, and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Additional requirements include:
- A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.
- Your own reliable transportation for which remuneration will be provided.
- A declaration being free of conflicts of interest with other activities outside of crisis intervention employment (eg. activities involving an overlap of client groups, working with offenders while working with victims of crime, etc.).
You will also be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP security clearance as a condition of ongoing employment.
For temporary full-time positions of eight (8) months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position.
Salary:
$39.14 to $46.07 per hour
(Pay Grade 22 - January 2024 rates)
Hours of Work:
Seven consecutive hours exclusive of an unpaid one hour meal break. between the hours of 7:00am and 11:00pm, any five (5) consecutive days of seven (7). The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
