In this role, you will be working under the direct supervision of fielding team to complete various tasks related to data collection in Telecommunication Outside Plant Engineering. Your primary responsibility will be to work outdoors to gather details and data for utility line information, civil information, and information on other relevant outside plant telecommunication infrastructure. The role will enable you to follow a standardized collection protocol, information will be entered into the recording instrument. This opportunity will allow you to establish a real-world understanding of shallow and deep utility rules and regulations, and help you familiarize yourself with the industry standard and procedures. IVYBAUD Inc. will also require the selected candidate to be physically fit as it would require collecting data on foot , have strong verbal and written communication skills, be willing to travel 80% of the time, ability to work as a team player, be ready to take initiative and have excellent planning and organizing skills.

We would also like the candidate to have interest working on AutoCAD, GIS, as well as software data entry/Survey tools.

You will help to complete the project lifecycle

· Conduct a route or site walk to collect data of all surface features of aerial and underground utility data necessary to support the preparation of the drawings and analysis that are complete and suitable for submission to local bodies

· Perform a visual inspection of overhead and underground facilities and equipment to compile field data collection, minor work order preparation, and maintenance reports of equipment.

· Perform field data collection utilizing laptop computer, tablet device, GPS, and other electronic devices to collect data for input into database software as necessary.

· Develop a working knowledge of the Electrical Safety Code (NESC), electric utility construction standards, and telephone, cable and other communication facilities

· Operate necessary equipment to take measurements on utility poles and mid-span facilities, perform pole inspections, inspect and perform maintenance etc.

· Taking initial steps that include understanding which geographical area is being surveyed and utilizing GPS coordinates to locate utility poles

· Maintain the recording instrument to ensure accurate and reliable data collection

· Clearly communicate with clients and project stakeholders to identify project risks and expectations.

· Occasional off-site meetings, site visits, and field inspections.

· Perform tasks on tools like AutoCAD, software data entry

Travel and Outdoor requirement

A. Travelling is an integral part of the job and requires candidates to be able to travel throughout Canada ( mostly within Alberta and British Columbia) and be able to work in 15 days rotation.

B. Candidate must be willing to work in the cold or hot weather

Required skills to qualify

C. Willingness to work in a utility environment or transferable skills to adapt to a utility environment will be an asset but not mandatory

D. Demonstrate willingness in field data collection procedures, AutoCAD (optional), survey and data entry will be an asset

E. Analytical competence to interact with a variety of individuals including engineers, clients and experienced Distribution System Designers

F. You enjoy working towards deadlines instead of 8.00am to 4.00pm environment

G. You have valid document to work in Canada

H. You are willing to produce criminal background check , police clearance and driver's abstract (if Asked).

Good-to-haves

Knowledge of GIS and Surveying will be considered as an asset

Must be a self-starter able to work with others and to handle multiple tasks

Job Type:- Contract (6 months, to be revised accordingly)

Start Date:- As soon as possible

Hourly Rate:- 18 CAD - 22CAD (Per hour)

License: Class 5 (Required)
