RACKsteel Material Handling is expanding its forklift and equipment service division, and we're looking for a Lead Field Service Technician – Operations to help drive the growth of this emerging department. This role is designed for a skilled technician who wants to stay hands-on while also stepping into operational, administrative, and leadership responsibilities.
You'll work closely with the Service Manager and General Manager, gaining exposure to scheduling, workflow planning, customer engagement, and day-to-day service operations. As the department grows, you'll play a key role in mentoring new technicians, shaping service processes, and supporting the foundation for future team expansion.

Your Role Includes
- Serving as the lead field technician during the continued launch and expansion of the service division.
- Performing field-based service, repairs, troubleshooting, and diagnostics on forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Handling lead-tech duties, including coordinating jobs, supporting daily planning, and mentoring junior technicians as they join the team.
- Engaging directly with customers to explain repairs, identify future service needs, and provide professional on-site support.
- Assisting with outbound service calls and identifying opportunities for additional service or equipment support.
- Supporting the Service Manager in operational tasks such as scheduling, workflow coordination, prioritizing service calls, and ensuring timely service delivery.
- Helping create and refine new service processes, standards, and documentation as the division grows.
- Participating in the training and onboarding of new technicians.
- Maintaining accurate work orders and consistent communication with parts, operations, and management teams.
- Caring for company vehicles, tools, and assets, including the service van.
- Upholding safety, cleanliness, and professionalism on every job site.
- Starting wage on offers commensurate with experience and qualifications. Top of range available for qualified candidates.
What You Bring
Must-Have Qualifications
- 3+ years of forklift or material handling equipment service and repairs
- High school diploma
- Experience maintaining and diagnosing forklifts or material handling equipment.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
- Comfort working independently in a field service environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Red Seal as a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or related field preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP/work order systems and quoting repairs
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Experience in rentals, parts, or equipment service is considered an asset
- Interest in leadership, operations, or supervisory development
