About Us
The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is the largest school board in Eastern Ontario and offers students and parents a world of choice for learning. We are seeking creative, dynamic, and committed teachers to join our team at
Crystal Bay School.
Crystal Bay Centre for Special Education is located in the Ottawa Area and serves 96 students with moderate to profound developmental disabilities. All students range in ages from 4-21 years. All of our students have a developmental disability that may be coupled with one of the following: autism, hearing impairment or deafness, visual impairment or blindness, physical disability. Crystal Bay students require individual, specialized academic programming. For some, programming also requires the services of trained medical personnel, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and/or speech and language pathologists.
Ideal candidates will support the fulfillment of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board's (OCDSB) Strategic Plan to enhance the quality of education in the school, and the District, by creating a positive and inclusive school climate, learning and workplace environment. Candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and respectfully, with a human rights and equity perspective, to foster student success, achievement and well-being.
Eligibility List
All Occasional Teachers are eligible to apply for Long Term Occasional postings for which they are qualified.
Qualifications
If you are fully external to the OCDSB, you may apply to this posting if you have the required qualifications. Please be advised that our order of consideration for Elementary LTO's is as follows:
- current elementary occasional teacher applicants, followed by
- qualified external applicants.
Required Qualifications
OCT Divisional Qualifications: Primary & Junior
OCT Additional Qualifications: Spec Ed Part 1
Additional Requirements (experience, knowledge, education,) considered an asset for the Position:
- Kindergarten qualifications
- Experience working with students with developmental disability and complex health
Additional Information
- Requires active participation in students swimming program

- At least three (3) teachers, who are currently employed as an occasional teacher with the OCDSB, and who have the required OCT qualifications and who best meet the criteria outlined in the job posting.
- If fewer than three (3) qualified applicants apply, all qualified applicants will be interviewed.
