This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills managing our expansive grounds, including the 18-hole course, practice facility, wedding site, and clubhouse landscape, under an experienced Golf Course Superintendent. Our next 2nd Assistant Superintendent will have the opportunity to learn cutting edge agronomic practices, have an
impact on day-to-day operations as well as long-term vision, and grow their career while maintaining a healthy work/life balance.
WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO
1. Golf Course Maintenance and Upgrades
- Coordinate and assist with day-to-day maintenance activities to ensure the Grounds Department operates efficiently while consistently maintaining championship-level playing conditions.
- Assist in overseeing nutrient programs, pesticide applications, irrigation system, cultural practices and more.
- Assist in the preparation and management of the operating budget and five-year capital plan.
- Assist in the coordination of golf course improvement projects.
2. Team Member Development
- Assist in recruiting, coaching, training and supervising the Grounds Maintenance Team to optimum performance while ensuring their safety.
- Develop and engage the Team with the GolfBC Manifesto.
- Ensure the Team is scheduled effectively, and payroll completed on time.
3. Guest Experience
- Maintain course conditions that exceed Guest expectations.
- Ensure the Team is knowledgeable and able to answer Guest questions.
WHAT YOU BRING
- 1+ years of experience in, and a basic understanding of the golf course industry.
- Experience with irrigation systems, water management, IPM, nutrient applications is an asset but not required.
- Relevant education in Turfgrass Management or related field is an asset but not required.
- Strong problem solving, decision making and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership and English communication skills.
- Familiarity with computers and able to keep up with changing technologies.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment on a set 5-day work week schedule including one weekend day.
- Willing to work hands on alongside the Team as well as complete necessary admin tasks.
