  • JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

*

  • Work from blueprints to lay out reference points and patterns, as well as construct patterns and templates
  • Review drawings and discuss them with the Shop Supervisor and or Lead Hand
  • Plan the sequence of tasks and decide how to cut the steel most efficiently
  • Determine the materials required and obtain them from stock
  • Assemble and fit metal sections and plates together to form complete units or sub-units
  • Use metal-working machines and cutting torches to cut steel, drill or punch holes, roll, bend or press steel into the desired shapes
  • Tack weld or bolt sections together
  • Fasten components together (by mechanical means or tack weld) in preparation for a welder to complete the process
  • Instruct apprentices and welders helpers
  • Mentor apprentices
  • Operate overhead cranes and other material handling equipment in a safe manner
  • Other duties as required
  • Follow Safe Job Practices and Procedures

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $32.00-$34.00 per hour
