We are now hiring for General Cooks to work in our flight kitchen located at our Dorval unit (1185 Rodolphe Page Dorval, Quebec H4Y 1H3). This position is represented by a labor Union and is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.

Position Summary
A General Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking various food items according to recipes and airline menu specifications. He/she must follow consistently all the food safety and HACCP principles in line with Gate Gourmet Food Safety policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for timely, proper, and efficient preparation of all food items according to the correct menu specifications, recipes, and passenger load requirements.
• Ensure the proper use of raw materials in a continuous effort to keep wastage to a minimum.
• Comply with and practice the company's established Food Safety/ HACCP Policy and Procedures.
• Assuring that the quality standards of the food is maintained all the time
• Co-ordinate with Assembly/Food Packing staff to make sure their work is not delayed, and all dished meals are in accordance with the airline specs
• Responsible for managing inventory, ensure FIFO is being followed
• Should have basic knowledge, experience, and skills to work with various modern kitchen equipment – Rational Oven, Fryer, Steam Kettles, Char Broiler, Flat top Stove, Cooking Gas range etc.
Job Specific Requirements:
• At least 1-year experience cooking in a hotel kitchen/restaurant or manufacturing high volume catering environment
• Experience cooking in various cuisines – Asian/Indian/Continental/ is an asset
• Must be able to read, write and follow food specifications and menu guidelines in English
Our Employees Must Be Able to:
• Work assigned schedule which may include multiple shifts, weekends and holidays
• Arrive to work on-time
• Pass a criminal background check
Education Requirements
• Culinary degree or cooking certification preferred
Environmental Requirements:
• Will be exposed to extreme temperature changes and noise
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, move product, equipment and supplies up to fifty (50) pounds
• Regularly stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during shifts of 8 hours

Résumé du poste
Un cuisinier général est responsable de la préparation et de la cuisson de divers aliments selon les recettes et les spécifications du menu des compagnies aériennes. Il/elle doit respecter de manière constante tous les principes de salubrité alimentaire et HACCP, conformément aux politiques et procédures de gategourmet en matière de salubrité alimentaire.
Tâches et responsabilités essentielles :
• Responsable de la préparation ponctuelle, correcte et efficace de tous les plats conformément aux spécifications du menu, aux recettes et aux exigences liées au nombre de passagers.
• Veiller à l'utilisation appropriée des matières premières afin de réduire le gaspillage au minimum.
• Respecter et appliquer la politique et les procédures établies par l'entreprise en matière de salubrité alimentaire / HACCP.
• Garantir en permanence le maintien des normes de qualité des aliments.
• Coordonner avec le personnel d'assemblage/emballage des repas afin d'éviter tout retard et s'assurer que tous les plats servis sont conformes aux spécifications de la compagnie aérienne.
• Responsable de la gestion des stocks et du respect de la méthode FIFO (premier entré, premier sorti).
• Posséder des connaissances de base, de l'expérience et des compétences pour utiliser divers équipements modernes de cuisine : four Rational, friteuse, marmites à vapeur, grill à braise, plaque de cuisson, cuisinière à gaz, etc.
Exigences spécifiques au poste :
• Minimum d'un an d'expérience en cuisine dans un hôtel, un restaurant ou dans un environnement de restauration collective à grand volume.
• Expérience dans la préparation de différentes cuisines (asiatique, indienne, continentale) constitue un atout.
• Doit lire, écrire et suivre les spécifications alimentaires et les directives de menus en anglais.
Exigences en matière de formation
• Diplôme en arts culinaires ou certification en cuisine souhaité
• Le certificat ''Red Seal'' constitue un atout important
Exigences environnementales :
• Sera exposé à des variations extrêmes de température (Congélateur – Four) et au bruit
• Doit être capable de soulever, pousser, tirer, déplacer des produits, équipements et fournitures jusqu'à 23 kg (50 livres)
• Être debout régulièrement, et de façon intermittente se penche, soulève et bouge pendant des quarts de travail de 8 heures
