Electrician Commercial Service & Construction Job Summary

We are looking for a Journeyman electrician to work commercial locations for our busy electrical company in Edmonton. We provide great benefits and offer a steady work schedule.

Job Responsibilities:

· Plan, coordinate, and supervise the work of other journeymen and apprentices on site.

· Conduct periodic inspections and provide on-site supervision of hazardous work assignments.

· Provide updates to the Project Manager.

· Install, modify, repair, and maintain various electrical systems and related equipment.

· Plan layout and illustration of electrical equipment and features based on job specifications.

· Provide estimates of time and material for project changes or service calls.

· Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards and defects, to ensure compliance with the code.

· Keep cost and job records and submit reports to management.

· Promote and monitor site safety to ensure requirements and standards are adhered to.

· Willingness to work out of town when required.

Required Job Skills & Qualifications:

· Must have a flexible work schedule - shift work, overtime, weekends and the willingness to travel within Western Canada are sometimes required.

· Extensive experience with conduit installation.

· Extensive experience with distribution systems.

· Extensive knowledge of 3 phase systems.

· Ability to follow directions.

· Ability to manage multiple apprentices on site.

· Ability to coordinate with other trades on site.

· Proficiency with the Canadian Electrical Code and local codes.

· Ability to teach and be taught.

· Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Ability to read blueprints.

· Must pass criminal background check.

Preferred Skills and Previous Experience Considered an Asset

· Previous Telecom experience considered a great asset.

· Openness to learning new or different industry best practices.

· Devising viable plans for electrical installations.

· Fire Alarm experience an asset.

· Past experience with generators, transfer switches and switch gears.

· Inspecting and maintaining existing electrical systems.

· Ensuring that electrical system in Commercial/Industrial buildings comply with local electrical codes and safety standards.

· Provide preliminary planning, sketches, and estimates for installation, repair, upgrade, and maintenance of electrical systems

· Training and supervising new hires on the intricacies of electrical installation standards.

· Interpreting and reading blueprints and electrical drawings
