Reporting directly to the Technical Manager, the SAP BASIS Technical Lead is responsible for managing and maintaining the technical infrastructure of SAP systems, ensuring optimal stability, performance, and security. This role provides hands-on leadership to a team of BASIS administrators and collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality SAP solutions. The successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise in SAP BASIS, S/4 HANA, and related platforms, along with proven experience leading technical teams within complex enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the administration, configuration, and maintenance of SAP systems, ensuring stability, reliability, and performance across all environments.
  • Oversee daily operations, monitoring, and troubleshooting of SAP systems and databases.
  • Manage system upgrades, patching, migrations, and performance tuning for SAP S/4 HANA, ECC, and other modules.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards, access controls, and system audit requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and guide a team of BASIS administrators to deliver high-quality support and project deliverables.
  • Collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, and vendors to support system integration, infrastructure planning, and solution delivery.
  • Participate in architecture design sessions and contribute to the definition of technical standards and best practices.
  • Manage SAP transports, system copies, and backup/recovery strategies.
  • Support capacity planning, system monitoring, and optimization of database performance.
  • Provide technical documentation, reports, and updates to stakeholders and management.
  • Ensure effective communication, project alignment, and timely issue resolution across technical and business teams.
  • Support large ERP implementation programs, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in SAP BASIS administration with strong technical skills.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in business analysis, system analysis, and solution architecture of complex information systems.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience with SAP S/4 HANA, SAP ECC, and related SAP modules.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience working with databases such as Sybase/ASE.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • 35 years of experience in a leadership role managing technical teams and direct reports.
  • Proven experience working in large ERP programs and within public sector organizations.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and experience contributing to project delivery.
  • Experience preparing written reports and status updates on technical and program progress.
