POSITION SUMMARY
Integrated Care Solutions - NRIO, a division of Bayshore Healthcare Ltd., is seeking a qualified Addictions Counsellor, who will work with the interdisciplinary team at ICS NRIO to provide support to clients within residential rehabilitation programs, hospital partnerships, and/or community-based settings. This role focuses on individuals experiencing substance use and addiction challenges that are associated with, exacerbated by, or resulting from neurological impairments and/or acquired brain injuries (ABI). The Addictions Counsellor will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, and facilitating in-person therapeutic interventions tailored to each client's unique needs and recovery goals.
Please note, as this is a consultant position, there is no minimum guaranteed hours of work.
Qualifications:QUALIFICATIONS
Education / Licenses / Certification
Post-secondary degree in psychology, social work, or a related field, along with relevant certifications in addiction counseling, substance use, mental health
- Registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)
- Strong knowledge of substance use, concurrent disorders, and recovery principles
- Standard First-Aid + CPR-C
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- Professional Liability Insurance
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
Experience
Minimum 3 years working as an Addictions Counsellor
- Experience in trauma-informed care, harm reduction strategies, and crisis intervention
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams
Other Skills and Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication in English
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the severity and nature of a client's addiction
- Identify co-occurring mental health issues and readiness for treatment
- Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each client's needs
- Use evidence-based approaches
- Teach coping strategies, stress management techniques, and life skills
- Educate clients and their families about addiction and recovery
- Provide input on medication-assisted treatment when appropriate
- Track client progress and modify treatment plans accordingly
- Help clients recognize triggers and develop relapse prevention strategies
- Refer clients to community resources and support groups
- Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to ensure holistic care
- Maintain detailed case notes and documentation
- Stay updated on legal and regulatory requirements
- Prepare required reports and attend case conferences within identified timelines
- Remain current on clinical best-practices and evidence-based interventions
- ICS NRIO is committed to complying with Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) SABS related Service Provider Licensing Legislation
- Regulations and Ethical Business Standards as mandated by Bill 65. The Addictions Counsellor's commitment is demonstrated through adherence to policies developed for:
o The role and authority of the Principal Representative
o Honesty and transparency in requesting MVA funding
o Honesty and transparency in financial practices
o Records management
o Duty to follow other FSRA guidelines and regulations
o Communications with stakeholders - Adhere to Bayshore Policies and Procedures
- Participate in proactive Health & Safety activities while performing all duties; responsible to notify immediate Supervisor of any Health & Safety risks or concerns
- Maintain confidentiality of client and corporate information and discuss same only with appropriate Bayshore personnel
- Complete other tasks as requested
