Position Summary
The Manager of Counselling Services provides clinical support and insight to the clinical supervisors, counsellors, public educators, system navigators, social workers and administrative assistants.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participating in the development, implementation, and oversight of plans, policies, and practices, ensuring quality service and alignment with Klinic's values.
  • Planning of counselling and public education related program development, transitions and activities.
  • Ensuring program quality, development, evaluation, and client safety.
  • Handling workforce planning tasks in a unionized environment.
  • Maintain effective and positive working relationships with community and related service agencies.

As a member of the leadership team, the Manager, Counselling Services is responsible for working collaboratively with peers and promoting positive working relationships with other Klinic programs.

This role requires scheduling flexibility, occasional evening, weekend work, limited travel, and participation in an on-call rotation.

Education and Experience:

  • At least 3 years of leadership experience. Experience in community health and leading interdisciplinary health teams in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Undergraduate degree in a health or social services related field, Master's degree preferred.
  • 5 to 7 years' experience delivering clinical counselling services, including 3 years' experience at a community-based agency.
  • Expertise in varying therapy models and interventions that best support crisis, short term and longer-term counselling.
  • Expertise and clinical experience related to the following: risk assessment, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, trauma recovery, gender-based violence, sexual assault, mental health, substance use/addiction, harm reduction, suicide bereavement and sexual exploitation.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action and the MMIWG2S+ Calls to Justice and a commitment to disrupting all forms of racism and oppression, including homophobia and transphobia, within systems and practices.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to holistic health care and a strong understanding of the social determinants of health and the systemic impacts that contribute to accessible and equitable care for individuals, families and communities.
  • Grounding in trauma-informed practices and cultural safety.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and practices.
  • Knowledge of best practices, national and provincial standards, and legislation inclusive of Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) and cultural safety.
  • Proficiency in related software in Microsoft office
  • Experience with electronic medical records is an asset
  • Experience in clinical research and community health is preferred.
  • Training in the LEADS Framework is an asset
  • Project Management skills/certification are an asset
  • Public relations and media communication experience is an asset.
