Started in 2006, we have successfully established 3 market leading brands (Caledon Farms, Crumps Naturals and Dog Delights) distributed throughout Canada and the United States. We officially started production in our North Carolina facility in August 2023, we continue to ramp up production in this facility and we are planning an $85M expansion.

Position Overview

The Senior Systems Administrator will be a pivotal member of The Crump Group's IT team, with a primary focus on supporting the ongoing implementation and future optimization of the Sage X3 ERP system. As the organization prepares for a targeted Go-Live in March 2026, this role will play a critical part in ensuring the system is properly configured, secured, and aligned with business requirements during the implementation phase.

The Senior Systems Administrator will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, implementation partners, and key users to manage role creation, security frameworks, workflow design, and system testing throughout the project. Beyond implementation, the role will evolve into ensuring stability, scalability, and continuous improvement of Sage X3, including reporting, integration with equipment and third-party systems, and proactive performance management. This position requires both hands-on technical expertise and strategic foresight to help The Crump Group fully realize the benefits of Sage X3 as it becomes a cornerstone of operational and growth objectives

Key Responsibilities

ERP System Administration & Optimization

  • Configure and manage role-based access and security settings within Sage X3 to ensure appropriate user permissions.
  • Lead the planning, design, installation, configuration, and ongoing support of Sage X3. Ensure the system delivers reliable, scalable, and cost-effective performance, supporting business operations and growth objectives.
  • Control field and screen access in Sage X3 to align with departmental needs and security protocols.
  • Design and implement system workflows in Sage X3 based on feedback from cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Continuously evaluate and monitor Sage X3 workflows to identify bottlenecks and implement improvements.
  • Review, test, and provide feedback on Sage X3 system patch updates to ensure stability and compatibility.
  • Stay informed about new Sage X3 functionalities, assess their suitability for Crump Group, and recommend adoption strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce the security strategy for Sage X3, ensuring robust separation of duties across defined system roles. Design and maintain role-based access controls aligned with organizational policies and compliance requirements.
  • Leverage Sage X3's performance monitoring tools and benchmarking capabilities to proactively identify and resolve system issues. Implement optimization strategies to enhance system responsiveness and minimize downtime, ensuring a seamless user experience.
  • Define, document, and maintain comprehensive policies, SOPs, system documentation, and training materials specific to Sage X3. Ensure consistent administration and user adoption through clear guidelines and structured onboarding resources.

Cross-Functional Support & Collaboration

  • Serve as the escalation point-of-contact for Sage X3 system troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Oversee key-user activity within Sage X3, providing training and support to ensure effective system usage.
  • Support ERP implementation initiatives, including data migration, process optimization, and documentation of configurations.
  • Influence and achieve results through collaboration with cross-functional teams to align system functionality with business objectives.

System & Equipment Management

  • Manage the implementation of new equipment additions, ensuring seamless integration with Sage X3 and other enterprise systems.
  • Optimize workflows within Sage X3 to reduce manual effort and improve usability.
  • Assist in system testing, updates, and feature rollouts to maintain system reliability.
  • Monitor and audit user activity to identify and mitigate potential security risks

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Preference given to candidates with experience in food manufacturing, CPG, or regulated industries where ERP and traceability are critical.
  • 5+ years of experience in systems administration, with specific expertise in Sage X3 ERP system management.
  • Proven experience in data analysis, report development, and visualization using tools like Power BI, SD&A (Sage, Data, and Analytics).

Technical Skills

  • Deep proficiency in Sage X3, including role creation, security management, and workflow configuration.
  • Strong SQL skills for querying and data extraction.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of role-based access controls and cloud-based/SaaS platforms.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex system challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to influence and achieve results with diverse teams to meet business objectives.
