Empringham Disposal is currently looking for a Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team.

Empringham Disposal is a local waste and recycling company servicing Central Alberta. We have been in operation since 2012. We offer municipal, roll-off, commercial front load and waste transfer services. We pride ourselves on our late model equipment, dedicated employees, and customer service

Duties

  • Perform diagnostic tests to identify issues with diesel engines and related systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on diesel engines, including oil changes, filter replacements, and hydraulic system inspections.
  • Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools and power tools.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed on vehicles and equipment.
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations while operating heavy equipment and performing repairs.

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in waste or recycling.
  • Ability to work effectively with other team members.
  • Proficient in electrical systems related to diesel engines.
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools for automotive repair.
  • Familiarity with industrial equipment maintenance and repair practices.
  • Solid mechanical knowledge, particularly in diesel mechanics.
  • Capability to perform heavy lifting as required during repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Hydraulic diagnosis and repair experience and experience with garbage/refuse trucks is an asset.
