*What Is the Opportunity?*
Reporting to the Service Manager, the Shop Foreperson will be responsible for overseeing a team of licensed Heavy-Duty Technicians, Apprentices, Welders and support staff at our Fleet shop located in Redcliff, AB.
What You'll Do Here
Knowledge of repairs needed for communication to technicians
Accurate repair or trouble shooting scope.
- Receive or gather information from site and relay for repairs
- Assist technicians with troubleshooting
Ensure repairs are being completed in a timely manner and on budget
(supplied by service manager)
Supervise a staff of licensed technicians, Welders and apprentices.
Dispatching and schedule for daily work
Schedule and facilitate with or for Service Manager
Monthly safety meetings.
- Weekly performance reviews.
Daily progress reports.
Supply technicians with contact information for each task.
- Knowledge of job locations for dispatch efficiency
- Knowledge of technicians' skillsets, to assign appropriate jobs.
Train and mentor junior technicians, leading by example.
Follow, promote and ensure all technicians comply with company policies and safety procedures.
Maintaining safe and harassment free environment
Creating a work environment of collaboration and team atmosphere throughout all shops
Responsible for creating and filling out:
Open, update, and closing workorders
- BBOs
- Safety opportunities
JHA
Reviewing and approval of technicians:
Timecards
- Daily truck inspections
- Service reports
JJAR Cards
Updating service manager
Coordinate subcontractors (third party) for repairs (directed by Service Manager)
- Update ongoing repairs via Spreadsheet and daily meetings
- Notify service manager of any costs that exceed $2500.00
Notify Service Manager of any shop or process challenges
Maintain a clean and organized shop.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by his/her supervisor.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Knowledge of all types of vehicles/equipment within the road construction fleet, such as excavators, backhoes, paving equipment, trailers and various sizes and configurations of trucks.
- Minimum 10 years related construction equipment maintenance experience.
- Minimum 2 - 5 years' experience in a Shop Foreperson role.
- Mobile Paving and Crushing plant knowledge considered an asset.
- Experience with SAP an asset.
- Strong communication skills – oral & written.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Adaptable to work a flexible work schedule when required.
- Ability to work on-call rotation as required.
- Available to travel occasionally to support technicians.
- Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Certification.
- Valid driver's license.
