Position Requirements:
at least 2 years of legal experience in the area of conveyancing and/or commercial lending;
superior knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and math;
ability to prioritize and adapt to changing demands;
attention to detail;
ability to complete multiple concurrent tasks with tight deadlines;
ability to self-direct and work independently;
knowledge of relevant computer applications to produce legal correspondence and documents; and
ability to learn further software related to the job.
Job Description:
You will provide legal administrative support to a number of lawyers in our office with established conveyancing and commercial lending practices. Your responsibilities will include:
Managing residential and commercial conveyancing files, including purchase, sale, and refinance transactions, from initial instructions through to post-closing, under the supervision of the responsible lawyer.
Preparing, drafting, and organizing all conveyancing documentation, including Form A transfers, mortgages, commitments, payout statements, undertakings, trust letters, Form B security documents, and related filings in the Land Title Office.
Assisting with commercial lending transactions, including drafting and preparing security packages, reviewing lender instructions, coordinating registration, and preparing final reporting packages.
Scheduling client meetings, signings, and appointments for the lawyers and maintaining the lawyers' calendars in an accurate and organized manner.
Conducting and coordinating communication with clients, financial institutions, mortgage brokers, realtors, accountants, and other professionals involved in a transaction.
Obtaining and reviewing title searches, tax information, strata documents, corporate searches, and other due diligence materials as required.
Keeping clients informed of the status of their files and responding promptly and professionally to inquiries.
Consulting with the responsible lawyer on files that require legal opinion, direction, or clarification.
Maintaining clear and effective communication with co-workers to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks.

Salary: $65,000+ depending on experience
