K'awat'si Economic Development, located on Northern Vancouver Island, is looking for a Communications and Digital Media Coordinator to join our team based in Port Hardy, Vancouver Island.This role offers the opportunity to live and work in one of the most stunning regions of British Columbia. Known as the gateway to the North Island, Port Hardy is surrounded by ocean, mountains, and forests, making it a hub for outdoor adventure, Indigenous culture, and community connection. The Communications and Digital Media Coordinator is responsible for the development and execution of digital marketing, communications, social content, and advertising to support a range of business lines.

**Please note that this position cannot be done remotely and requires relocation to Port Hardy, B.C.**

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Social Media & Website Management: Design, build, and maintain company websites and social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.). Plan and manage content calendars, monitor engagement, respond to messages/comments promptly, and ensure consistent brand voice.
  • Content Creation: Develop engaging online content, including forums, blogs, graphics, videos, animations, and short-form content (Reels, TikToks, behind-the-scenes) using tools like Adobe Creative Suite and Canva. Capture live event content for real-time and future use.
  • This role requires a strategic communicator who can bridge marketing, brand, and stakeholder engagement functions. The successful candidate will build and implement a cohesive communications and marketing framework that unites diverse audiences and reflects a deep understanding of cultural context and inclusion.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Measure digital traffic, track and analyze campaign performance, monitor content success and customer engagement, and generate monthly reports with insights and recommendations.
  • Campaigns & Trends: Support digital marketing campaigns, promotions, and event activations. Stay current with emerging social media platforms, web technologies, and digital marketing trends; implement new tools and strategies to enhance campaigns.
  • Draft and distribute internal and external communications, including newsletter, press releases and social media content.
  • Assist the management in developing and executing KEDC's communication strategy.
  • Monitor media coverage and social media channels, responding to inquiries as needed.
  • Maintain and update KEDC's website, communications, SharePoint and other digital platforms to ensure consistent and effective messaging
  • Community & Influencer Engagement: Collaborate with influencers, lifestyle/travel bloggers, community members, and internal teams to grow connections and amplify messaging.
  • Collaboration & Support: Assist in developing and presenting budgets, marketing initiatives, and communication strategies. Follow brand guidelines and support additional marketing tasks and projects as assigned.
  • Other Duties: Perform other responsibilities as required by the manager.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or a related field
  • 2 - 5 years of social, digital, or brand marketing experience on social media is an asset.
  • Experience in setting up and optimizing Google Ad Campaigns.
  • Knowledge of photography or digital asset creation; experience operating cameras and video creation
  • Knowledge and experience using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Working knowledge of SEO, Google AdWords, Content Management, and MS Office
  • Previous experience in brand development and promotion
