Position Overview
The Academy of Healthcare Services is seeking an experienced and creative Curriculum Developer to design high-quality certificate-level beauty and aesthetics programs. This contract role will focus on developing industry-relevant, compliant, and engaging course content that prepares students for entry into professional beauty and aesthetics careers.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with leadership to develop structured curricula, learning outcomes, assessments, and instructional materials for short-term certificate programs.
Programs to Be Developed
The curriculum developer will be responsible for creating certificate programs in the following areas:
- Artificial Nails
- Facials and Basic Skincare
- Body Waxing
- Makeup Artistry
- Hair Weaving and Braiding
Key Responsibilities
- Design comprehensive curriculum outlines for certificate-level beauty programs
- Develop course objectives, lesson plans, assessments, and practical skill requirements
- Ensure curricula align with industry standards, best practices, and applicable provincial regulations
- Create instructor guides, student learning materials, and evaluation tools
- Incorporate hands-on training components and competency-based learning outcomes
- Review and revise content based on feedback from leadership and instructional staff
- Support accreditation or approval processes as required
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in beauty, aesthetics, cosmetology, or related fields
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum development or instructional design
- Strong understanding of certificate-based and vocational training programs
- Familiarity with adult education principles and competency-based learning
- Excellent written communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Edmonton, AB T6E 0A8
