Yorktown Family Services is currently seeking an Infant & Early Years Mental Health Therapist to join the team of professionals.
Responsibilities
A primary component of this position will be providing Trauma Focused (TF) Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and infant/early years mental health interventions to children from birth to 12 years. The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of a range of treatment services including individual, family and/or group counselling, brief therapy with children, youth and families, Trauma Assessments and TF-CBT Treatment.
- Receive referrals from Parenting in the Early Years, Supporting Young Families, Baby Love and Here to Help Group Programs
- Coordinate service and work collaboratively with Child Welfare partner agencies
- Responsible for the provision of a range of treatment services including individual, family and/or group counselling, brief therapy with children, youth and families, Trauma Assessments and TF-CBT Treatment and intake assessment.
- Provide brief SFBT counselling within our walk-in and virtual Rapid Access Therapy and at the West Toronto Youth Hub clinic, 'what's up' walk-in clinic, and in the community as needed.
- Function within an integrated care health team as the mental health service provider.
- Collaborate with Hospitals, Community Health Centers and Physicians to support transitions from primary health to community-based child and youth care organizations.
- Lead the Early Years parenting groups and Baby Love programs and other groups as assigned
- Take a lead role in Baby Love facilitation and training
Qualifications
- M.S.W., or equivalent Clinical Masters and several years clinical experience grounded in a strengths-based, trauma focused, systemic perspective with children from birth to 12 years
- Must be a registered member in good standing with the college of social service workers or college of registered psychotherapists (RSW or RP).
- Minimum 2 years relevant children's mental health experience with preference for experience using evidence based clinical models such as CBT, TF-CBT, and SFBT and working within the Violence Against Women sector.
- A deep understanding of the impacts and treatment approaches working with children who have been exposed to intimate partner violence
- Enthusiasm and skill working to support change with a multi-challenged, diverse client population
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including report writing.
- Superb interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team setting
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings is essential.
- Vulnerable Sector Screening is required.
