About REBEL
REBEL is the first and largest tech platform transforming retail's $1T returns problem into a smarter, more sustainable model. As the only Certified B Corporation returns recommerce marketplace backed by top-tier investors, we're leading the returns revolution — partnering with 2,500+ brands to give shoppers up to 70% off open-box products while diverting millions of pounds of returned goods from landfills each year.
The Role
We're looking for a Category Assistant to support day-to-day execution across REBEL's dropship categories. In this role, you'll ensure category operations run smoothly, listings and inventory are accurate, and performance insights are surfaced to drive decision-making.
Sitting between merchandising coordination, operational support, and data execution, you'll work closely with cross-functional teams — including Merch Operations, Planning, Marketing, and Customer Experience — to help maintain competitive assortment, optimize performance, and support vendor initiatives.
You'll be actively involved in execution, with the opportunity to contribute insights and continuously improve processes that drive category growth. This role is designed for someone who is detail-oriented, analytically minded, and looking to build broader capabilities within category management over time.
Responsibilities
Operational Execution & Coordination
- Manage daily ordering, SKU updates, and inventory maintenance across dropship categories.
- Ensure all listings are complete, accurate, and aligned with site structure and customer relevance.
- Support pricing updates, promotions, markdowns, and on-site presentation.
- Partner with Customer Experience to investigate and resolve order-related issues.
Vendor & Assortment Support
- Assist with vendor onboarding, ensuring correct listings and setup.
- Maintain communication with vendors to address operational challenges and escalate when needed.
- Monitor key performance indicators such as fulfillment speed, cancellations, pricing accuracy, and stock availability.
- Help identify assortment gaps, whitespace opportunities, and high-potential SKUs.
Analytics & Insights
- Prepare weekly/monthly performance recaps and help translate data into actionable recommendations for the Category Manager.
- Track competitor pricing and assortment trends and flag emerging opportunities or risks.
- Use AI-enabled tools to help accelerate data pulls, performance diagnostics, and decision-making support.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with Merch Operations to support site merchandising, categorization, and hero SKU visibility.
- Partner with Marketing to spotlight priority SKUs and support promotional planning.
- Coordinate with Planning to support alignment around demand and inventory prioritization.
What You Bring
- 1–3 years of experience in eCommerce, merchandising, category management, or dropship/marketplace operations.
- Strong attention to detail with a high standard for accuracy and execution.
- Highly organized, resourceful, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Excel/Sheets (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP); familiarity with BI tools is an asset.
- Basic analytical ability and curiosity — able to track performance trends and escalate insights.
- Strong communication skills and experience working cross-functionally with multiple teams.
- Comfortable adapting to change and finding solutions in a fast-moving environment.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled tools is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
