Job Summary

We are looking for a qualified, B.C. Certified Early Childhood Educator to come and join our long term dynamic team of educators. This is a rare opportunity as positions seldom come available at Castleview.

This is a full time temporary position covering a maternity leave. The position can start as early as mid January and no later than Feb. 1st depending on the successful candidates availability. The position will continue for approximately 1 year until February 2027.

Wages are in accordance with the current wage survey conducted by the CCRR and include the Govt. subsidized Wage Enhancement for all certified/licensed Early Childhood Educators. The wage grid is based on experience.

Temporary/Contract employees will be eligible for the Wellness Benefit after successful completion of the three month probationary period.

All full time staff including temporary/contract staff receive one paid flex day per month.

Skills and Qualifications

  • hold a valid B.C. Certificate in Early Childhood Education
  • diploma in Early Childhood Education preferred
  • First Aid certified (relevant to child care)
  • cleared Criminal Record Check (CRC) (relevant to child care)
  • must be proficient in English and have good communication skills
  • must be able to lift up to 45 lbs.
  • has a good understanding and knowledge of the B.C. Early Learning Framework
  • be able to and enjoy being outside as we are outside for several hours a day in our nature inspired play yard, or on neighbourhood walks and also time spent in our urban Forest Program.
  • be able to work in a team environment
  • be able to supervise a group of children (within ratio)during activities, group times etc.

Duties and Job Description

  • be responsible for the overall safety and care of each individual child enrolled in the centre
  • recognize each child as an individual and respond to them as such.
  • in consultation with the staff team, plan and implement activities to suit children's individual needs and interests
  • be responsible for and plan activities for the small group of children in your preschool circle group.
  • be able to perform general housekeeping duties ie: bathroom clean up, setting out cots for naptime, setting up lunches, making snacks, outside tidy up etc. Many duties are relevant to the shift schedule and rotate weekly. We work as a team to support one another in bigger clean ups etc.
  • agree and abide by the policies and duties set out in the Staff Policies and Procedures Manual.

Job Type: Fixed term contract

Contract length: 13 months

Pay: $28.62-$31.35 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 37.5 per week
