Responsibilities:
Responsibilities for Press Feeder roles include but are not limited to:
- Prepare all paper stock.
- Prepare and load the correct substrate as per the print docket instructions for production and instruction from the Lead Pressman
- Set up and adjust feeder end of press
- Load paper into press feeder and ensure continuous feeding of paper as required throughout duration of press run
- Mix ink as required and directed by Lead Pressman
- Load ink into press ink fountains
- Off-load and re-stack finished printed products onto skids and move to appropriate staging areas.
- Perform press wash-up duties and routine press maintenance as required
- Remove plates after press run complete
- Accurately follow SOPs and written job instructions
- Support pressman where directed.
- Assist with basic press maintenance and repairs.
- Pay close attention to small details throughout the process.
- Clean and maintain machinery, equipment, and work areas to ensure proper functioning and safe working conditions.
- Other duties as may be assigned by the Lead Pressman and Manager.
Knowledge and Requirements:
- 1 year of related experience in an printing environment
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Ability to conduct maintenance on equipment
- Ability to feed a 6 & 7 colour Heidelberg press
- Ability to fill fountains, put on plates
- Ability to pile full size sheets
- Mechanically inclined
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Meticulous, bondable, reliable
Physical Demands:
- Regularly lift up to 20 lbs. and periodically be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Bending, squatting, walking, and standing all day.
- 20-20 vision with or without prescription glasses, with good attention to detail
- Good hand/eye coordination and fine motor skills performing repetitive motions
