About the Role:

As a Food Service Worker for Markham Bowl, you will be working in our Snack Bar serving customers, prepping and cooking food items, re-stocking inventory, cleaning, setting up birthday parties, addressing customers questions and concerns, and more. This role holds a great deal of responsibility and requires exemplary customer service skills. Our Food Service employees need to capable of working in a team and independently, being able to take the initiative to complete tasks you see are not yet handled, as well as completing tasks as asked by a supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Customer Service Experience of 2+ years
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional time-management skills
  • Transportation to and from work
  • Valid Smart Serve Certification
  • Valid Food Safety / Food Handlers Certification
  • Ability to legally work in Canada

Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

  • Utilizing a POS system to bill out customers; employing basic math skills for counting change and completing inventory counts
  • Addressing customers questions, requests, and complaints either in person or over the phone
  • Booking reservations either in person or over the phone and communicating effectively to answer any questions customers may have
  • Working independently and working with a team both in our snack bar and with our front desk
  • Following cleaning procedures, restocking supplies, and accurately completing inventory tracking
  • Developing and maintaining good relationships with regular customers and/or leagues
  • Keeping track of multiple birthday parties and/or events happening at one time, in providing the correct orders of pizza or other food and drinks, bringing in the correct cake, indicating which party room guests can go to, etc.
  • Minor fixes on bowling lanes if needed (training provided on-site) (e.g., getting a ball that is stuck, untangling 5 pin strings, getting a pin that is stuck on a lane)
  • Implementing marketing strategies and company goals that are provided by Management
  • Ensuring compliance with company policy, safety standards, and legal regulations as set out and informed to you by Management

Beneficial to have:

  • Knowledge of bowling (i.e., scoring, how to bowl, safety, 10pin vs 5pin, etc.)
  • Knowledge of basic cooking skills
