We are currently recruiting dedicated Personal Support Workers to help clients in their home within the Kingston and Surrounding areas. Must have current Drivers License, Reliable Car, PSW Certificate, Updated Vulnerable Sector Screening, Current TB Test, Current CPR-First Aid Certification.
The Personal Support Worker provides personal care and other services to clients in a safe efficient manner. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Assist in meeting clients' needs as directed by care planner
- Assisting with bed/tub baths and showers to those requiring assistance, assisting with personal grooming such as hair and nail care and oral hygiene including cleaning teeth and dentures, feeding totally dependent clients and assist others with their meals and providing nourishments to clients between meals, assisting in the ambulation and toileting of clients, making clients' beds, change linens, tidy dresser, bedside tables and other furniture.
- Provides cognitive, social and/or emotional support to the client
- Provides assistance with a variety of household tasks
- Prepares nutritious, varied and economical meals and snacks, including special diets, as determined by the care plan, and uses proper food preparation, storage and hygiene practices
- Promotes a safe environment for both the client and worker
The ideal candidates will possess:
- PSW/SSW/DSW certificate or Equivalent (Nursing Students with completion of 2nd year and International Nurses accepted)
- Must understand the basics of good sanitation and sterile techniques.
- Knowledgeable with respect to the needs of geriatric clients;
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills with ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with clients, families and visitors; be sensitive and empathetic to the needs of the clients.
- Experience working with the vulnerable population, in a community setting is an asset
- Must have all required Covid-19 Vaccinations
- G License and access to reliable vehicle
- Willingness to Drive a Client
