Job Summary

The Youth Worker plays a vital role in supporting and guiding young individuals in their personal and social development. This position involves working closely with children and adolescents to provide educational support, mentorship, and a safe environment for growth. The Youth Worker will engage with youth in various activities that promote learning, self-esteem, and positive social interactions.

Duties

  • Develop and implement engaging educational programs tailored to the needs of children and adolescents.
  • Provide one-on-one support to youth, fostering their personal development and helping them overcome challenges.
  • Create a safe and inclusive environment for all participants, ensuring that the needs of individuals with disabilities are met.
  • Facilitate group activities that encourage teamwork, communication, and social skills among participants.
  • Monitor and document the progress of youth, providing feedback to parents or guardians as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other staff members and community resources to enhance the support network for youth.
  • Attend training sessions and workshops to stay updated on best practices in youth work and education.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or adolescents in a professional or volunteer capacity is preferred.
  • Knowledge or experience in Indigenous Culture.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with youth from diverse backgrounds.
  • A passion for educating and mentoring young people, fostering their growth and development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being able to take initiative when needed.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards helping youth achieve their goals.
