Counterbalance (Stand-Up) Forklift Operator

Job Summary
Cambridge Treats, a leading pet treats manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Counterbalance (Stand-up) Forklift Operator to join our warehouse team in Cambridge, Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient handling of materials, including loading, unloading, and organizing inventory within the warehouse. This role requires a strong understanding of warehouse operations, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate stand-up forklifts to load and unload trucks, move pallets, and organize raw materials and finished goods.
- Perform order picking, shipping, and receiving tasks with accuracy using manual inventory processes (paper-based systems, spreadsheets, etc.).
- Assist with inventory counts and help support the transition to a Warehouse Management System (WMS) currently in development.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections, report maintenance needs, and comply with safety and company standards.
- Handle heavy materials safely and efficiently using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Work collaboratively with warehouse and production teams to ensure timely flow of materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area to support efficient warehouse operations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience operating counterbalance (stand-up) forklifts in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of shipping, receiving, and inventory control practices.
- Experience with manual inventory tracking (paper forms, spreadsheets) is required; familiarity with WMS systems is a plus as the company transitions to digital processes.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for forklift care and maintenance.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety protocols and adherence to OHSA regulations.
- Ability to safely lift and move heavy materials in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and teamwork skills.
- Valid forklift certification is required.
Shift & Schedule
- Day shift with standard hours, Monday to Friday.
- Flexibility required to occasionally adjust hours based on operational needs.
