As a Lab Technical Assistant, you will be responsible for the preparation, setup, and limited test processing of specimens in the laboratory, and help deliver better health outcomes for patients through the delivery of fast and accurate test results.

Status: Temporary, Casual (between 0 and 37.5 hours per week)
End Date: November 30, 2026
Shift: Flexible Shift (operational variable hours)

This vacancy is for an existing position.

Your responsibilities will include:

Receive, accession, sort and prepare specimens for testingPerform manual and automated testing procedures under the guidance of a Medical Laboratory TechnologistRespond to phone inquiries from LifeLabs employees and clients such as hospitals, clinics and physiciansClean, maintain, and operate instruments and other equipmentParticipate in problem solving in work organization and workflow to drive continuous improvementAlways ensuring test quality and personal safety

What you will bring to the role:

High School diploma with courses in post-secondary science or medical terminologyPrevious laboratory experience an assetAbility to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment while being detail oriented and hands onExcellent communication skills to enable you to relate with a wide variety of peopleStrong computer skills in MS Office productsProblem solving skills, including the ability to identify and follow-up on issues Ability to maintain the strictest standards of safety, patient privacy and confidentiality
