ABOUT THE ROLE

HealthOPM is recruiting on behalf of a Toronto-based non-profit organization that operates a trauma-informed Anti-Human Trafficking (AHT) live-in treatment program for high-needs youth.

The Live-In Treatment Child and Youth Practitioner, AHT will facilitate and deliver assessments, therapeutic treatment, programming, and discharge support for female identified survivors of sex trafficking and/or sexual exploitation ages 12-17.

The Anti-Human Trafficking live-in treatment program environment provides supervision, support and care of children/ youth 24 hours/ day, 365 days/ year.

Salary range: $58,001 to $67,543 per annum (for full-time permanent); $27.89 to $32.47 per hour (for part-time permanent and casual)

Position details:

  • Three (3) full-time permanent positions
  • Two (2) part-time permanent positions (up to 24 hours per week)
  • Five (5) casual positions
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Provide care and supervision that supports the health and wellbeing of each client within the live in treatment environment and in their daily functioning. Each full-time staff member may be assigned as a primary care provider to a client and will support the Integrated Care Coordinator in implementing the client's care and therapeutic plan.
  • Provide support and treatment that is evidence-informed and aligned with client goals and objectives. Provide support and treatment that supports client mental health and wellbeing within the live-in environment and in their daily functioning.
  • Organize, attend and participate in various meetings that support client's therapeutic programming needs and enhance communication between care team members.
  • Participate in the care and maintenance of a residential home and program facilities to ensure the health and safety of program participants and staff, and that meet licensing standards.
  • Complete the required documentation, safety, security monitoring and administrative responsibilities to support the needs of the program and the clients and meet the requirements of the MCCSS and organization.

THE MUST HAVES

The following education, professional memberships and knowledge are a requirement for this role:

  • CYW/CYC Diploma or Degree required.
  • One year of experience in a Live in Treatment setting with youth who have complex needs (e.g., experience supporting youth with histories of homelessness, substance use, significant trauma, and/or mental health challenges).
  • Knowledge of Crisis Management and Intervention Models.
  • Knowledgeable of the Child Welfare Systems and Ministry of Children, Community, and Social Services, Child, Youth and Family Services Act (CYFSA), WHMIS, First Aid.
  • Knowledge of evidence-informed treatment modalities such as Motivational Interviewing, harm reduction strategies, trauma informed care, and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of gender-based violence, sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
  • Knowledge and sensitivity to life experience and the complex needs of sexually exploited youth.
  • Awareness of the complex relationship between system violence, substance use, mental health and sex work and how this impacts young people.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and relational awareness.
  • Non-judgmental and strength-based approach.
  • Understanding of the social determinants of health and equity as it relates to childhood sexual exploitation and trafficking
  • Displayed competencies of self-care practices, personal/professional boundaries and growth of interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility (IDEA) and trauma informed care practices.
THE NICE TO HAVES

While not required, preference will be given to candidates with the following:

  • Work experience and/or lived experience related to childhood sexual exploitation, trafficking, or gender-based violence is considered an asset.
  • Work experience and familiarity with the youth shelter system or gender-based violence shelter system is an asset. Certified in First Aid / CPR is an asset.
  • Fluency in another language(s), including sign language.
  • A valid driver's license with access to a vehicle would be an asset.
  • Awareness of the role of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) in the workplace and within the community being served by the position.
  • An understanding of anti-black racism, anti-oppressive/anti-racism perspective in the context of the social determinants of health.
  • Ability to recognize and identify situations where incidents of imbalance of power and privilege may occur and can result in possible negative impacts.
