Job Description: Reporting to the Director, Communications Services, the Communications Specialist is responsible for creating and implementing communication strategies that directly impact how the Saskatchewan Health Authority communicates key initiatives, internally and externally, to diverse stakeholders including employees, physicians, patients, health system and union partners, government, and the public. The Specialist uses best-practice tools and corporate channels to communicate projects related to—but not limited to—labour relations/disruptions, privacy, policy, safety in an ever-changing and complex environment.

Experience

  • 3-5 years' experience in communications, preferably within large, diverse public organizations

Education

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in Business, Communications, Marketing or Public Relations

Other Education & Training

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Licensed and in good standing with professional association and/or regulatory body, if applicable

Licenses

  • Valid class 5 driver's license

  • This is a provincial role responsible for creating and implementing internal and external communication strategies that directly impact the SHA's reputation and credibility through employee communications, engagement and experience-building strategies. The Specialist provides sound advice to SHA leaders and acts as Community Engagement and Communication's resident expert within an assigned portfolio. The Specialist will research, plan, develop, and implement employee communication and engagement tactics using a comprehensive understanding of strategies, practices, and audiences. The Specialist fosters collaborative relationships with key partners and participates in the after-hours on-call rotation for emerging issues and crisis events.
