Scope Of Position
Responsible for managing all aspects of procurement related to new model launch, production parts, engineering changes and service parts. Manage costs and quotations for new business activity. Manage approved global suppliers who will support budget and technical requirements of current and future business demands. Support and mentor divisional purchasing teams globally identifying opportunities, divisional coordination related to savings, best practices improvements and providing leadership during QAFs analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all quotation activity related to prototype, new model launches, production quotes, engineering changes and service parts.
- Develop systems to ensure effective use of RFQ, Source Council, Spend Data Management and Supplier Performance Metrics related to commercial, quality and delivery targets.
- Responsible for maintaining all records pertaining to purchasing performance activities. Establish systems that are shared and accessible to appropriate staff and team members.
- Source, develop and maintain quality and financially approved global suppliers who will provide on time production exceeding quality, cost and technology targets.
- Effectively negotiate cost and timing with supply base in accordance with APQP timelines, action trackers and other metrics.
- Strategically develop commodity portfolios within region and globally in order to develop preferred supplier relations and partnerships as required to meet business demands.
- Provide ongoing design input for conducting manufacturing feasibility and Customer requirements.
- Provide information for input into the preliminary bill of materials (BOM).
- Define packaging specifications for individual packaging, returnable and skid deliveries.
- Must ensure the containment of new commodities until production is stabilized and there are no customer issues.
- Drive a culture of cost savings/value added supply base using tools such as lean workshops, low cost sourcing strategies, vertical integration, global leveraging and divisional synergy. Promote should cost models.
- Responsible for managing, developing and maintaining a motivated team who are engaged and can support the business objectives.
- Provide excellent leadership, guidance, performance objectives, feedback and annual appraisals to the team on a continued basis.
- Support President's Message.
- Work in a safe manner at all times.
- Participate in Kaizen and GEAR activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Purchasing.
- Work in compliance and conform to IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards.
Basic Requirements
- Must have an Engineering Degree and/or Purchasing Certification Degree.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in strategic supply chain management, purchasing/procurement preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment.
- Ability to extract, understand and analyze financial data.
- Knowledge of SAP systems is required.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes, such as stamping, forging, molding, machining, electronics, etc.
- Ability to develop positive relationships with internal functional groups, suppliers and customers.
- Ability to negotiate contracts and agreements.
- Organized and detail oriented.
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Suite, MRP systems) and willing to learn new tools and systems to improve performance.
