Job Description
Essential Functions (Job Duties and Responsibilities)

  • Technician II will be relied upon for troubleshooting support for routine problems in the material handling system.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical components such as motors, motor-gearbox assemblies, rollers, bearings, shafts, sprockets
  • Responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical control components such as; photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, solenoids, encoders, variable frequency drives
  • Communicate with various parties on the work performed and present status of specialty systems
  • Interpret engineering drawings in reference to layout, location, and operation of the system
  • Execution of preventive maintenance (both electrical and mechanical)
  • Reporting of executed maintenance activities
  • Analysis of system errors
  • Replacements of machine spare parts
  • Reporting of problems and maintenance activities that need attention
  • Attending to call outs, faults, alarms, and warnings and monitor system from the Control Room
  • Compliance with all Vanderlande programs, policies, and procedures
  • Perform other duties / assignments that might be occasionally required by the management

Required Education And Experience

  • Experience of supporting automated systems with a proficient level of electro- mechanical skills
  • Electrical fault-finding and fault-rectification skills, including the replacement and configuration of field devices (inverters, sensors, scanners etc.)
  • Mechanical fault-finding and fault-rectification skills (gearboxes / bearings / sprockets / drives etc.)
  • Experience with electrical schematics / wiring diagrams
  • Skilled in the use of standard electrical test instruments
  • Relevant vocational and / or technical qualifications

Other Requirements

  • Valid Driver license
  • Electrical License Industrial Electrician Trade Certification or Certified Construction/Maintenance Electrician or "Red Seal" Industrial Millwright License is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Warehouse Operations experience
  • Conveyor services or material handling services experience

Knowledge-Skills-Abilities (Competencies)

  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ability to read diagrams, electrical drawings, operation manuals and manufacturers specifications
  • Knowledge of use of hand tools, precision measuring and testing instruments
  • Flexibility with time, able to shift priorities quickly based on staff and system needs
  • Team player with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Customer and service oriented
  • Working knowledge of computers and equipment
  • Ability to solve problems under pressure
  • Pro-active attitude towards process improvement
  • Working in a stressful environment

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
6-month contract position; 24/7 operation; this is a rotating shift position that includes both days and nights

Travel
This position requires no travel.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

frequently
(25% to 75%) required to climb, reach, sit, and access confined spaces that require kneeling, crawling, and other positions that require physical maneuvering. The employee is
constantly
(75% or more) required to move and lift objects (stacks of totes/ trays, tools, equipment, parts, etc.) of up to 50lbs; bend/twist; stoop; stand; walk; push-pull. The employee is
occasionally
(up to 25% of the time) required to carry and transfer up to between 50 and 120lbs.

The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes exposed to the material handling systems, mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The Service Technician will encounter mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment. Ear protection should be worn.

Salary range
The salary range listed represents the maximum and minimum starting base pay for this position as of the time of posting. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience.

Salary range for this position is CAD$60,000 to CAD$68,000
