Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada's only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state.

The Operator Technician will provide oversight of contractors and other personnel to ensure that maintenance and project activities occurring at facilities are performed in accordance with approved EHS standards. Inspection, local operation and routine maintenance of facility equipment and equipment systems will be carried out by the Operator Technician following approved Company operating procedures and standards.
This position will be based at the Burnaby / Westridge Terminal location and will report to one of the Shift Supervisors.
Key Responsibilities
- Locally operate sample cabinets, booster pumps, Motor Operated Valves (MOV) & Hydraulically Operated Valves (HOV), pipeline scraper systems and other facility equipment in consultation with the Control Centre Operator (CCO) and the operations group.
- Responsibilities specific to dock facilities include operation of equipment related to transfer of liquid petroleum to and from marine vessels.
- Responsibilities specific to terminal facilities include performing product quality and measurement analysis, tank gauging, and sample collection.
- Provide oversight of third-party contractors in all disciplines and other personnel to ensure that maintenance and project activities occurring at facilities are performed in accordance with approved EHS and procedural standards.
- Analyze, interpret, and utilize graphic information contained in Supervisory Control And Data Acquistion (SCADA) displays, Local Operator Interface (LOI) displays, Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) drawings and valve numbering diagrams.
- Recognize and effectively respond to abnormal operating conditions.
- Conduct equipment and equipment system inspections, storage tanks, building, facility piping inspections and routine maintenance; prepare, isolate and drain down equipment for maintenance activities as required. Prepare, complete, and monitor work orders as necessary.
- Provide review and input related to Trans Mountain operational documentation including project Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), safe work permits, job plans, operating manuals, and drawings.
- Obtain and maintain job qualifications by successfully completing all assigned training following established protocols within the specified time period.
- Maintain a high regard for personal safety, safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
Qualifications And Professional Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years in the oil & gas industry or other related industrial sectors.
- Completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required. A Power Engineering certification and a Diploma in Engineering Technology (e.g., Petroleum, Mechanical) are preferred.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems as applied to industrial processes is essential.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications is preferred.
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
- Capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision.
- Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have a valid driver's license.

- Work location: Burnaby / Westridge Terminal, B.C.
- Working Conditions: Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions and at heights, following all safety protocols.
- Ability to work 12-hour day/night shifts.
