Warehouse Manager, Consolidation Centre

Position Summary:
The Warehouse manager is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the Toronto Consolidation Center located at 570 Petrolia Drive. The Warehouse Manager is responsible for ensuring that all Warehouse staff are trained on the appropriate current work instructions, proper health and safety practices and are knowledgeable in the best practices for handling Teknion products.
Responsibilities:
People:
Support the recruitment and retention of hourly warehouse team members across a two-shift operation. Both material handling equipment operators and general labour positions.
Set SMART goals and objectives for all direct reports that are aligned with the corporate priorities and goals.
Promote a culture of safety to ensure all reasonable precautions are taken for the protection of the workers.
Ensure that annual and periodic reviews are conducted for all team members within the Consolidation Centre.
Drive continuous improvement within the Warehouse Operation to ensure best practices are being followed.
Product:
Detailed understanding of warehouse best practices required.
Knowledge of different transportation modes and methodologies is essential.
Ensure the team is trained in the proper handling processes to ensure the safe movement of goods from the distribution center to destination.
Work collaboratively with other departments or plants to identify potential challenges with packaging or palletization of products.
Support the claims process and investigations as needed.
Projects:
Support the development and implementation of KPI's and productivity measures to monitor key results areas for the business.
Support lean initiatives and continuous improvement.
Function as a subject matter expert as needed by the business to help facilitate the seamless delivery of goods to Teknion's clients.
Work collaboratively with other departments on systems enhancements and modifications.
Complete UAT as needed based on process change or the implementation of new applications.
Policy:
Ensure that CTPAT procedures are always followed.
Participate in the CTPAT committee and audit process.
Detailed understanding of Health and Safety regulations for warehousing and transportation.
Establish and maintain best practice guidelines and training plan for new hires including Material Handling Equipment training and certification.
Qualifications:
- College Diploma or University degree in Logistics management or Business management preferred
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in transportation and logistics or distribution center management
- Previous experience with quality systems such as Lean, Six Sigma, or ISO
- Must have excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
- Manage and execute a broad range of warehouse functions (receiving, put away, picking, loading etc..)
- Detailed understanding in warehouse and transportation applications WMS and TMS
- Understanding of different transportation modes and methods
- General understanding of Customs compliance documentation
- Excellent computer skills, including Google Docs, and Sheets
