Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada BC CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL FOUNDATION Full time
What we do

At BC Children's Hospital Foundation (BCCHF), we're on a quest to ensure every kid in the province receives the best health care imaginable. As a fundraising organization, we inspire communities and people to support BC Children's Hospital, along with its world-class research institute, mental health facility and rehabilitation center.

Our work makes a profound difference. From helping get the boldest research ideas off the ground to supporting the most advanced equipment, together we are pushing the boundaries of what's possible in children's health care. This is no small task - which is why we're looking for passionate people to join our team and help propel our work forward to power the possible.

What you'll do

As the Philanthropy Associate, Mid-Level Giving, you will be responsible for the engagement of donors within our annual mid-level giving program. You will be responsible for growing this base of donors using a wide range of activities, including donor led stewardship, personal cultivation and solicitation, and essential partner involvement.

The donor portfolio for this role will consist largely of Chinese speaking donors. To be successful, you will be required to speak Cantonese and Mandarin. The ability to read and write Simplified Chinese is considered an asset for this role.

More specifically, you will be responsible for:

  • Working in collaboration with other departments, developing and implementing annual cultivation, stewardship and solicitation plans for annual mid-level giving donors in order to increase revenue, donor retention, and gift upgrades, and ultimately build our donor pipeline for leadership giving and major gifts.
  • Developing strong relationships with donors through cultivation, solicitation and stewardship contact, both via phone, email and in person when appropriate.
  • Identifying and cultivating individuals who have a capacity for greater giving and work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure the smooth transition of the relationship to other areas of fundraising as required (e.g., Major Giving or Gift and Estate).
  • Overseeing the data management needs by ensuring accurate information is being tracked and entered into the donor database and preparing and analyzing reports to support the growth of the portfolio.
  • Managing a portfolio of Foundations; this work involves identifying new Foundations with a focus on children's health, preparing letters of intent, writing grant applications and proposals, and effectively stewarding and renewing of current donors in the portfolio.
  • Achieving personal annual targets including donor activation, retention, call counts and revenue results.
What you bring

We understand that no single candidate will perfectly meet all the qualifications outlined for this job posting. The following highlights the qualifications we consider important.

  • The ability to write simplified Chinese is considered an asset.
  • Proven experience in building relationships with donors, including successful solicitation of gifts.
  • Exceptional communication (oral and written), presentation and interpersonal skills; experience with grant writing is considered an asset.
  • Detail oriented and strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • A positive outlook and self-starter with inspirational vision.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately and with discretion.
  • Well-developed time management and organization skills with an ability to efficiently manage a diverse range of assignments while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Strong team player with an ability to work collaboratively as well as autonomously.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with people at all levels, including donors, hospital partners, senior volunteers, patient families and internal colleagues
  • An affinity for our values: Think Big, Step Up and Lead with Heart.
