Early Start Autism Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Support Assistant to provide one-on-one support for an individual child during morning transitions. This role involves assisting the student in adapting to school routines, promoting emotional regulation, and ensuring a smooth transition into the school day.

The ideal candidate will be patient, empathetic, and skilled in managing transitions for children who may experience challenges adjusting to school environments. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a child's educational experience and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the child with transition activities in the morning, ensuring they are able to successfully enter the classroom, organize materials, and settle into their daily routine.
  • Provide individualized emotional and behavioral support to help the student navigate any anxiety, stress, or challenges during the transition period.
  • Support the child in developing coping strategies and skills to independently manage transitions.
  • Be a positive and encouraging presence, helping the student feel comfortable and confident as they begin each school day.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for the child to thrive in.

Qualifications:

  • ECE or Instructor Therapist
  • Previous experience working with children, especially in educational or support settings, is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with children and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude toward helping children succeed.
  • Ability to handle emotional and behavioral challenges with sensitivity and care.
  • Understanding of child development and the needs of children with diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Must be able to commit to the position for the entire week.

Schedule:

  • 5 mornings per week, 8:45am- 12:15pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Start date : ASAP

All interviews will be held over zoom on Thursday October 16 from 10am-12pm and Friday October 17 from 10am - 12pm & 4pm - 7pm

Payment will be commensurate with experience

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $27.00-$31.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week

Education:

  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)

Experience:

  • ECE or Instructor therapist: 2 years (required)
