We're looking for our next Director, Credit Risk Strategy. Could It Be You?
The Director, Credit Risk Strategy will lead a team that leverages data and analytics to define and execute credit strategies for the full customer lifecycle. This leader will also serve as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) from Risk to define, build, and manage a state-of-the-art risk strategy and implement them in the system for Questbank.

This role is responsible for both defining the strategic vision for risk systems and developing the credit strategies (e.g., adjudication, account management) that run on them. The ultimate goal is to enable profitable growth and deliver a best-in-class customer experience by ensuring that the portfolio remains profitable while operating within the risk appetite.

This position partners closely with enterprise partners in Product, Technology, Finance, Operations, and Sales to lead strategic projects.

Reporting to the Chief Credit Risk Officer, the Director, Credit Risk Strategy is responsible for heading the end-to-end development, implementation, and maintenance of the enterprise's credit risk strategies , as well as the data infrastructure and technology systems that support them.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Strategy & Analytics
:

  • Developing and implementing life-time value (LTV) based credit adjudication strategies.
  • Developing and implementing LTV-driven account management strategies (e.g., limit increases/decreases).
  • Working with the modeling team to develop and maintain credit risk and predictive models.
  • Developing and implementing foundational testing for optimizing initial limit assignment and pricing.
  • Monitoring, tracking, and reporting on credit strategy performance, incorporating industry benchmarks.
  • Monitoring, identifying, and escalating material credit risks, taking ownership of action plans.

Systems, Data & Infrastructure:

  • Defining the strategic roadmap and system requirements for end-to-end risk management (adjudication, authorization, collections, fraud).
  • Leading the deployment of risk infrastructure for new product launches.
  • Defining and designing the Risk Data strategy for both production use and offline analytics, working with Technology to execute.
  • Setting standards and processes for data governance, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Ensuring appropriate controls for change management within the decision-engine.

Leadership & Project Management:

  • Leading a best-in-class credit risk management team, creating a culture of empowerment and continuous development.
  • Leading and managing large-scale, complex initiatives and projects with long timelines and multiple stakeholders.
  • Defining achievable milestones and providing regular updates to senior executives on progress and challenges.
  • Developing in-house expertise to manage onboarded systems for self-reliance and cost reduction.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management:

  • Serving as the primary SPOC from Risk for cross-functional teams (e.g., Journey, Products, Marketing, Technology, Compliance).
  • Managing key vendor relationships, including credit bureaus and decision-engine/platform providers (e.g., Tsys, HPS).
  • Managing vendor contracts with strong discipline on costs, optimizing orchestration without compromising risk mitigation.
  • Supporting Legal and Compliance to deliver AML and regulatory reporting requirements.

? You are if you…

  • Hold a University Degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Economics, Business, or Engineering)
  • Have a combined 10+ years of experience in financial services/fintech, developing credit strategies and implementing credit strategy
  • Have 7+ years of experience in a leadership and people management capacity
  • Have experience with Tsys or HPS
  • Have experience with adjudication and transaction modeling system
  • Have experience with Fraud related systems
  • Have experience with managing credit adjudication system
  • Have a proven track record of analyzing credit card data and making strategic recommendations to senior management
  • Possess strong statistical knowledge and experience with credit strategy development for credit cards.
  • Have a deep understanding of the consumer credit card industry, P&L reporting, and the credit card lifecycle
  • Have demonstrated an ability to lead complex, long-term projects
  • Are proactive, agile with a start-up mindset to move quickly
  • Are team oriented and persuasive with a collaborative mindset
  • Have strong communication skills, with the ability to present information in a succinct and organized manner
