McSween Custom Fabricating, Erecting, Welding Ltd. Is a Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada, based multi-discipline industrial fabrication and construction company that has been serving the industrial plant community since 1980. Our expertise covers a broad range of industries, which include Petrochemical, Fertilizer, Cement, Mining, Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical, Heavy Industrial, Light Industrial, and Power Generation.

McSween is currently seeking an exceptional Heavy Duty Service Mechanic to join our team.

Location: Fort Saskatchewan, AB

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include the following, however other duties may apply)

  • The mechanic will work with our Field division out onsite at one of our plant sites we do maintenance at.
  • Must be a Master Technician and assume a leadership role of product and equipment knowledge, as well as a high standard of quality within the company.
  • Understands the operating standards & requirements of our company.
  • You will be responsible for repairs to all field, equipment in accordance with operational manuals. And our client's requests.
  • In depth knowledge of Internal Combustion Engines (both gas and diesel), DC Electrical Systems, Propane Systems, Hydraulics, Aerial Equipment, Skid Steers, Forklifts, Light & Heavy-duty Trucks.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot: Fuel Systems, Electrical Systems, Hydraulic Systems and Propane Systems.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Identifying causes of Equipment inefficiencies, implement solutions approved by senior management.
  • Ensure shop equipment is maintained and in safe working conditions.
  • Perform maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep of the facilities at the shop and yard.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications / Training / Experience:

  • 5 + years' experience in the heavy equipment industry, diesel engine experience and hydraulics.
  • Strong electrical diagnosis skills.
  • Clean Driver's abstract and valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Able to perform their role without direct supervision.
  • Able to perform complete repair and overhaul functions.
  • Own a Master Mechanic tool set.

Language Skills

  • Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language.
  • Ability to effectively interpret and translate instructions to other employees in a professional and respectful manner.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to move or transfer products with an overhead crane.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. when required. While performing the duties of the job,
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
