Founded in 1968, Polytainers is a privately-owned company that has been committed to providing industry-leading plastic packaging and total value packaging solutions to the food industry for more than 50 years.

We are looking for driven interns, interested in learning about the plastic packaging industry, to train and participate in many different areas of operations. The interns hired for this position should expect to learn multiple facets of business and will leave this position with valuable skills and industry knowledge.

Internship Dates

This internship will be held over the summer of 2023. Selected candidates will spend 10-12 weeks working full-time at our facility. Remote and virtual options are not available for this internship. The internship start and end dates are flexible to accommodate students' school schedule and summer availability.

Relocation

This internship is located in Lee's Summit, MO (right outside of Kansas City, MO). Relocation and housing assistance will be provided for candidates located outside of the Kansas City Metropolitan area.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:

The 2023 Molding Interns will work and train with multiple departments in the facility to get an end-to-end view of our facility, our business, and our manufacturing and molding processes.

  • This position will train and work with the Molding and Engineering Teams on assigned projects. This will be driven by OEE and other internal cost structures.
  • This position will be required to work on cross functional teams.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented student who is hungry to learn about all facets of the plastics industry. Qualifications include:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Plastics Engineering Technology and has completed their sophomore or junior year by the summer of 2023
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication, verbal, presentations and written
  • Must be able to work and act in a professional manner with all levels of team members in the organization

CORE COMPETENCIES FOR THIS POSITION

  • Must have the ability to lift more than 20 pounds, stand and walk for long periods of time
  • The Material Handler position includes reaching above and below shoulder height, kneeling, bending, and repetitive movements such as gripping, grasping, pushing and pulling
