Why You'll Love This RoleAs a Freight Supervisor, you'll play a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations of our freight department. You'll support the management team, guiding the department toward success while ensuring our clients' shipments are managed smoothly. - Manage and monitor freight shipments across North America and internationally, particularly for VIP and special needs accounts
- Oversee the onboarding process for new accounts, including setting them up in internal systems
- Generate necessary documentation for domestic and international shipments, such as invoices, air waybills, and bills of lading
- Communicate with clients and vendors via email, phone, and in-person meetings to maintain strong relationships
- Negotiate rates with vendors and ensure accurate vendor invoicing and file audits
- Assist in resolving any operational, client, or vendor issues, escalating to management when necessary
- Supervise and schedule staff, mediate disputes, and assist with performance reviews
- Support new employee training and assist with HR-related matters such as interviews
- Provide regular reports on department performance, including productivity and goal achievement
- Assist management in enforcing new procedures and participate in client meetings when needed
- Continuously improve professional knowledge through training and seminars
- 5+ years of experience in the logistics industry
- Completion of CIFFA certification or equivalent training (preferred)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with North American and global stakeholders
- Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
- Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams
- Experience with supervising staff and handling HR-related tasks
