Job Description
Home Visitation provides in-home support to families and caregivers with children ranging from prenatal to 6 years of age. This program focuses on building healthy parent-child relationships.
The Home Visitation Program aims to enhance positive parent-child connections, enhance parental knowledge and abilities, support the healthy development of children, facilitate families in accessing formal and informal services within their communities, promote overall family well-being, and contribute to the establishment of resilient communities.
Home visitation aims to assist families within their home setting by offering parenting guidance, evaluating child development, and aiding families in establishing connections with their natural support systems and the community. This strategy eliminates obstacles to service access, including transportation and childcare.
Objectives of the Home Visitation Programs:
· Foster positive parent-child attachment.
· Aid new parents throughout pregnancy to establish a foundation for family success.
· Enhance positive parenting knowledge and skills.
· Promote and support healthy child development.
· Help families access formal and informal support systems available within their communities.
· Workers will acknowledge the cultural dimensions of each client's life and honor the diversity of individuals and their beliefs.
-Facilitating client-worker relationship spanning 3-5 years.
-Nurture healthy childhood development and establishing goals to mitigate risks within the family.
-Implement a family centered strength base approach
Job Requirements/Skills:
· Post-secondary education in a humanities, social science, Indigenous Studies, or related field, or equivalent qualifications.
· Relevant experience in home visitation, social services, or a related field.
· Familiarity with community resources and service programs in Hinton.
· Knowledge of Indigenous culture, demonstrating sensitivity to cultural differences and diverse populations.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
· Responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, assessments, and service plans.
· Submission of reports as necessary.
· Possession of a valid Class 5 driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and the ability to obtain adequate insurance for client transportation.
· Minimum of 1 year of directly related experience.
· Clear criminal record check and CWIS check.
· Skill in establishing trusting relationships with families and their children.
· As this role requires working independently, candidates must be self-starters, capable of motivating others, and comfortable working alone with clients in their homes.
· Advocacy for clients' needs and goals is essential.
· Attendance at FRN and Interagency meetings as required, fostering strong working relationships with partnering agencies.
· Ability to collaborate effectively with partnering agencies and a willingness to expand partnerships within the community.
· Travel required as needed
The work schedule for this position is Monday to Friday, with regular hours from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and some flexibility for evening work.
Pay to be determined. The compensation will be on an hourly basis until the conclusion of a 6-month probationary period, after which a permanent salary structure may be considered.
