Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Inuktitut Speaking Home Support Worker to provide personalized care and assistance to clients in their homes. The ideal candidate will be fluent in Inuktitut and possess a strong background in home and community care. This role involves supporting individuals with various needs, including seniors, people with disabilities, or those recovering from illness, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being through direct support and caregiving services. The position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in clients' lives by delivering culturally sensitive care within a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
  • Provide medication administration and monitor vital signs as required
  • Prepare nutritious meals tailored to clients' dietary needs and assist with meal planning
  • Support clients with memory care needs, including dementia and Alzheimer's care, ensuring safety and comfort
  • Implement individualized care plans developed in collaboration with healthcare professionals
  • Conduct patient observation and monitor health status, reporting any concerns promptly
  • Maintain cleanliness of the home environment through light housekeeping tasks
  • Utilize assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts to safely transfer clients
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality
  • Engage in patient monitoring during shifts, providing emotional support and companionship
  • Document care activities accurately while respecting client privacy and dignity

Skills

  • Fluency in Inuktitut is required; proficiency in English is preferred
  • Experience working in assisted living, long-term care, or home health environments
  • Knowledge of dementia, Alzheimer's, memory care, autism spectrum disorder, and hospice care best practices
  • Certification or training in First Aid and CPR is highly desirable
  • Experience with medication administration and vital signs measurement
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for patient transfers or mobility assistance
  • Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and safety assessments
  • Compassionate caregiver with excellent communication skills and patience
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team setting
