Absence Management Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for administering the medical absence management processes and programs, including occupational and non occupational medical absence, return to work plans, accommodation and long-term disability. The role primarily focuses on case management within this scope to ensure that instances of absence are managed in a manner that best supports operational requirements.

Qualifications:

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge of disability management, and return-to-work and accommodation practices
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, collective agreements, and benefits administration policies, procedures, and processes
  • Understanding of the broader university, academic units, departments, and divisions
  • Proficiency with office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices

Education and Experience:

The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant specialized education i.e. Certified Return to Work Specialist, Certified Return to Work Coordinator or Certified Disability Management Professional or equivalent
  • Minimum of four years of disability management experience
