Lyft Surfaces was founded in 2017 and is the leading provider of custom elevator interiors for all of Alberta. We design, manufacture, install, service and maintain all types of elevator interiors from the very basic to the most elaborate. Our business is a mixture of industries, such as sheet metal, welding, glazing, finished carpentry, cabinet making, engineering, architectural and interior design. The most common materials we use are stainless steel, plastic laminate, particle board, back painted glass, mirror, and vinyl. We manufacture most of our own products in-house.
Job Summary
This is an onsite, in person position. We are seeking a talented and innovative Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in design principles, engineering concepts, and project management. This role requires a creative individual who can translate ideas into practical designs while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. The Designer will be responsible for developing detailed schematics and models, ensuring that all designs meet industry standards and client specifications.
Duties
- Develop and create design concepts using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, and Sketchup
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure designs align with project goals and timelines.
- Conduct thorough analysis and testing of designs to ensure functionality and compliance with safety codes.
- Prepare presentations using to communicate design ideas to stakeholders and clients.
- Maintain organized documentation of design processes, revisions, and project updates.
- Participate in construction inspections to ensure adherence to design specifications and quality standards during implementation.
- Utilize lean manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency in the design process.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries and incorporating feedback into design iterations.
Skills
- Proficient in CAD software including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc
- Strong mechanical knowledge with a focus on mechanical engineering principles.
- Familiarity with interior design, color mapping, and material selections
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Microsoft Project for project management tasks.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
- Analytical mindset with strong math skills for precise calculations and evaluations.
- Experience in product development, R&D, system design, and field experience is advantageous.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while fostering creativity.
To gain the knowledge and experience required to create industry specific drawings, this person will be required to work in the field as an installer and in the shop as a manufacturer, for a certain amount of time. An installer will use common hand tools and power tools to professionally install the interiors to high quality standards. A manufacturer will use the same common tools to build, assemble and fabricate the parts required for elevator interiors.

Pay: $25.00-$50.00 per hour
