Position

Skilled Labourer, Electrical, Nunavut

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Supervisor, Electrical, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

Responsibilities

• Assist electricians by loading and unloading electrical materials for the respective task (e.g. wires, conduit, cables, cable trays, fixtures, electrical tape, grommets, panels, fuses, ballasts and mounting brackets, switches, relays, and circuit breakers).
• Prepare and maintain work areas by setting up ladders, laying out materials, and safety barriers, and ensuring compliance with site safety standards.
• Assist with installation tasks by running and pulling electrical cables, and positioning fixtures, brackets, and conduit as directed by electricians.
• Perform basic maintenance and housekeeping tasks, including cleaning tools and equipment, tightening bolts, replacing covers, and maintaining a hazard-free environment.
• Provide logistical support by transporting tools and supplies between job sites and disposing of waste materials in accordance with environmental and safety guidelines.
• Adhere to safety protocols by wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), following all safety instructions, and completing simple logs or checklists as directed.

Desired Competencies and Requirements

• Two (2) years of general labourer experience in a remote camp environment. Prior work at a mine site is preferred.
• Must have the physical ability to safely perform all essential duties of the position, including regularly lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to comprehend, read, write, and converse in functional English to ensure safe working conditions on site.

Compensation and Benefits

For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $90,948.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $33.00 and overtime rate of $49.50) in a work year.
