Senior Actuarial Analyst - Waterloo, OntarioWhat you will do...
- Perform comprehensive rate reviews and develop actuarial indications using GLMs and other advanced ratemaking techniques.
- Conduct loss ratio analysis, competitive benchmarking, and calculate premium and rate change impacts across all lines of business.
- Prepare and complete rate filings with provincial regulators, including all required documentation and regulatory liaison.
- Conduct detailed data analyses to support underwriting, claims, product development, and other business segments.
- Identify trends and anomalies through exploratory data analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to interpret data and translate insights into actionable business recommendations.
- Investigate and implement emerging analytics tools and techniques, including predictive modeling, machine learning, and AI.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance actuarial data marts and self-serve reporting tools to support scalable business insights.
- Leverage a strong understanding of Heartland's policy and claims systems and their data structures to support analytics and reporting needs.
- University degree (Actuarial Science, Mathematics/Statistics or a related discipline).
- Successful completion of 4 to 6 exams from the Casualty Actuarial Society.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in an actuarial/data analysis role, preferably with P&C insurance exposure or a significant educational background in a related discipline.
- High Proficiency with SAS, SQL, and Excel.
- A working knowledge of Emblem would be an asset.
- A good understanding of P&C pricing and ratemaking concepts.
- Demonstrated strength in oral, written and presentation communication skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
