We are seeking a detail-oriented CAD Technician with a strong engineering background to join our Markham office. The ideal candidate will support the preparation of high-quality engineering drawings, plans, and figures for a variety of civil, geotechnical, and infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with engineers and project managers in a fast-paced, technically driven environment.

Key Responsibilities


• Prepare 2D and 3D engineering drawings, layouts, and design details using AutoCAD Civil 3D (and/or MicroStation).


• Produce accurate site plans, grading drawings, profiles, and cross-sections based on engineering design inputs and field data.


• Support engineers in drafting reports, technical figures, and construction details.


• Maintain and organize drawing standards, templates, and layers in accordance with company and client requirements.


• Review and interpret survey data, field sketches, and markups for incorporation into design drawings.


• Collaborate with project teams to ensure design accuracy and timely delivery.


• Assist with QA/QC reviews of drawings and provide input on constructability and design clarity.

Qualifications


• Diploma or degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering Technology (or related field).


• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in CAD drafting for engineering projects.


• Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation; experience with Revit or GIS considered an asset.


• Strong understanding of engineering design principles and construction practices.


• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple tasks.


• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Assets


• Experience in geotechnical, transportation, or municipal infrastructure design.


• Working knowledge of survey data and coordinate systems.


• Familiarity with design standards from the City of Toronto, MTO, or other Ontario municipalities.
